Los Padres National Forest

Here are some late entries for my trip to the Los Padres National Forest. Unfortunately for the viewing public, I am waiting to develop the rest of my roles of film until I find out whether or not I have the job at North Coast Photographic Services. Photography can be expensive and I can be cheep. I should have some more posted in the *near future.

crossing the tracks

This is another example of negative overlay. The railroad tracks are right out side of my house. Everytime I cross these tracks I feel like I'm crossing the border. It is a whole nother world on the other side.

Keep it Simple

The name for this piece comes from utter frustration for actually coming up with a legitimate name for the title. I was under time restraints before submitting this to the Escondido Municipal Art Gallery. This piece also aided me in coming up with my blogger profile name, "photo reject". It was rejected, I have to pick it up within two weeks.

Los Padres National Forest (polaroid manipulations)

There were several enjoyable moments during my trip out to Los Padres National Forest, though the most intriguing to me was learning to manipulate Polaroid emulsion. Here is a short description of the process posted by mkaz.com: "Polaroid sells a film called Time Zero or SX-70, it goes by both names. This film is slow to develop and sensitive during this process. The interesting benefit of this is the photo can be manipulated while developing with very interesting and unique results. Images can be created with a painterly or impressionistic look, or completely abstracted or distorted."

Western Harris' Hawk

The Western Harris' Hawks are found in the southwestern region of the U.S. along with in Argentina...as well as the Wild Animal Park located in Escondido, California...which is where I captured mine...I have a horrible habit of being unnecessarily honest...

Mission San Luis Rey

The history of the Spanish missions in California is quite interesting. They were set up to spread the Christian doctrine to the local Native Americans. Kit Carson Park

This figure is one of many unusual statues located in a certain section of Kit Carson Park in Escondido, California.
